The Knights of Rizal Firenze Chapter since 2024, co-organises the celebrations of the Philippine Independence Day by the Filipino community of Tuscany in partnership with Filcom Tuscany ODV, an umbrella organisation of Filipino associations in Tuscany.
As it has been since 2024 it is the largest gathering of the Filipino community in Tuscany, gathering up to 400 participants coming from at least 25 Filipino organisations from all across the region and beyond.
The Philippine Independence Day celebrations are the largest annual gatherings of the Filipino communities overseas. Italy hosts the largest Filipino expatriate community in Europe and within the country, the largest celebrations are organised under the patronage of the Philippine Embassy and its consulates – Rome, Milan, and Florence.
The programme starts with a ceremonial parade of the participants followed by a floral offering to the Philippine National Hero Jose Rizal and the singing of the national anthems of the Philippines and Italy traditionally organised by the KOR-Firenze Chapter.
The event regularly features participation or partnership with Italian authorities at the district, city and regional levels and Philippine diplomatic corps.
Past Philippine Independence Days co-organised by the KOR-Firenze chapter have featured Regione Toscana President Eugenio Giani, Firenze Mayor Sara Funaro, councilors and various district presidents as well as Philippine Ambassador H.E. Sir Nathaniel Imperial, KGOR and Philippine Honorary Consul-General Cav. Dott. Sir Fabio Fanfani, KGOR.
The event features presentations and performances from the Filipino community.
