A morning dedicated to civic engagement towards the city and environmental protection. Today, Sunday, November 26, 2023, the initiative ‘Clean Empoli’ was carried out by volunteers from the Filipino community.
The initiative is part of the program of events ‘An Autumn for the Environment,’ under the patronage of the city government of Empoli to raise awareness on the theme of nature conservation and the importance of contributing with small daily gestures. A program that, stage after stage, has gained attention and participation from citizens of all ages, made possible by the collaboration of Legambiente Empolese Valdelsa, Plastic Free OdV Onlus, Centro*Empoli, Mentorgroup, association Friends Animals Environment Group Arca ETS, Aristocats association, association Research Center of the Fucecchio Marsh, Renato Fucini Municipal Library, and The Knights of Rizal – Florence Chapter.
The morning promoted by the Filipino community started from Matteotti Square and then proceeded to various places in the city center, such as Mariambini Park and the Remembrance Park, and Don Minzoni Square, concluding in Victory Square, where ‘Clean Empoli’ closed in the presence of the Municipal Environmental Councilor of the City of Empoli, Adolfo Bellucci, present to convey the greetings and thanks of the municipal administration.
“I can only say thank you on behalf of the municipal administration to those who, this morning and whenever the opportunity arises, take action to lend a hand to the city,” said Councilor Adolfo Bellucci.
“‘Clean Empoli,’ a project within the ‘Autumn for the Environment’ initiative under the patronage of the city government, is proof that everyone within our community can make a difference by choosing to commit to the land and the environment. Together, the administration, citizens, and residents can do a lot with civic sense and responsibility for the environment and nature conservation. The hope is that environmental awareness will spread more and more, involving adults and children, eradicating phenomena such as littering. The path is not easy and probably not short, but today, with this initiative, the Filipino community has shown to be alongside the Municipality and the city on this journey,” he ended.
