Last Sunday, 27 January 2019, the Knights of Rizal – Firenze Chapter bid farewell to its beloved member Sir Frumencio Barbosa, KR, who passed away on 25 January 2019.
Sir Frumencio was a family man, church volunteer, veteran, and, up to the very end, a dedicated Knight of Rizal. Donning the Rizalian barong, it was the full embodiment of the Order’s motto – Non omnis moriar – not everything in me shall perish.
During the solemn occasion held at the historic 15th century Church of San Barnaba in Florence, Italy, where he was a frequent fixture, Sir Frumencio was honoured with the Order’s Necrological Memorial Service or funeral rites presided over by past Italy Area Commander and KOR Italy Adviser Sir Carlos Mercado Simbillo, KGOR and Firenze Chapter Commander Sir Dennis Arcilla Reyes, KCR.
Draped upon his casket was the Philippine flag, an honour reserved for veterans and civilians that have rendered distinguished service to the Philippines. Acting as his honour guards were his brothers from the Guardians Brotherhood Inc. or GBI-TBBG and the Knights of Rizal.
Among the Rizal Commanders present in the necrological service are Sir Elmer Alvarez, KCR and Sir Dennis Ilagan, KCR and the Kababaihang Rizalista Modena former President Lady Lorena Cipriano and other KRI officers.
The chapter expresses its deepest sadness and condolences to the family of Sir Frumencio. His loyalty and dedication to the Order and its ideals will never be forgotten.
